A. Christopher Burton is vice president of electric distribution. In this role he leads the efforts of BGE employees and contractors in daily electric distribution operations, construction and maintenance activities, and gas first response. Burton is also responsible for design and engineering activities for new business and reliability of the electric distribution system.Burton joined BGE in 1985 and has held senior leadership positions in strategic planning and development, customer accounts and metering services, gas and electric operations and planning, and asset management services. He has previously led large projects including BGE’s transition to customer choice and implementation of smart grid.Burton serves on the board of directors for St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore and is chair of the STEM committee for the Baltimore Area Council Boy Scouts of America. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Virginia Tech Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Burton is a senior member of the IEEE, the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology, and was past chairman for the Power Engineering Society, Baltimore Chapter.Burton is married and has three children.Burton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic and State University and a master’s degree in business administration from University of Baltimore. He is a graduate of Leadership – Baltimore County and a member of the Greater Baltimore Committee’s Leadership Class of 2014.
