Veronica Watkins serves as Chief Financial Officer at Worthington National Bank. Watkins will be taking the reigns as Les Schuler retires from his 46-year career in banking in December. As CFO, Watkins will oversee Worthington’s accounting, finance, operations, compliance and human resources departments. Veronica grew up in banking and that history is perfectly tailored for the CFO position. As CFO Watkins will bring a laser focus on maintaining the high standards Worthington is known for. Before joining the Worthington team, Watkins served as the CFO at Affiliated Bank, N.A. in Arlington, Texas, and Liberty Bank in Hurst, Texas. Watkins’ career in banking found its start in 1988 at the Texas Commerce Bank in Houston, Texas as the consumer loan reconciliation clerk. There, guided by encouragement from her mentor Alan White, she discovered her love for accounting. From that point, she embarked on her career while attending the University of Houston and ultimately earning a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Accounting from Stephen F. Austin State University. In 2005 Watkins landed in Fort Worth, Texas and now considers this her true home. She has served on the board of the Tarrant County Bankers Association and was president in 2015 and is a member of the Texas Society of CPAs, Fort Worth Chapter of CPAs, and Financial Managers Society.
